Built in the 16th century as offices (uffizi) for Florentine magistrates, it was transformed into a public gallery by the Medici family. Today its 45 rooms display works by Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael, Titian, and Caravaggio, among hundreds of others.
